Roughrider Invitational Varisity Boys and Girls run away with team titles. Chelsea Reilly wins girls race. Bronco Invitational Katey Randall and Palina Chordas 5th and 6th in girls JV race. Roughrider Invitational Woodward Park - Fresno CA October 14, 2005 Bronco Invitational Willow Hills - Folsom CA October 15, 2005 Davis High cross country teams split up to compete in two different meets on Friday and Saturday. An expanded varsity squad traveled to Fresno on Friday for the Roughrider Invitational. The meet offered a chance for the Blue Devils to preview Woodward Park's 5000 meter course in anticipation of a return to the CIF state championships on November 26th. DHS runners gave their approval of the course as they came away with team victories in both the girls and boys large school varsity races. The varsity girls dominated their race, which had over 200 runners, taking four of the top 12 spots. Chelsea Reilly led the way with a convincing first place finish. She was followed by Maddie Hall (7th), Jonah Weeks (9th), Jenna Fritz (12th), and Merek Kesser (18th). Their team score of 48 points was well ahead of the 78 points scored by second place Clovis High. Things were a bit closer for the varsity boys as they edged out Central Coast section powerhouse, Los Gatos, by eight points, 71 to 79. Los Gatos is currently ranked sixth in California for Division 2 schools. Brendan Gregg finished fourth with a Woodward Park personal best time of 16:11. His teammates, Patrick Lynch (7th), Scott Halliday (10th), and Kyle Buchoff (19th) all had personal best times as well, despite a very warm starting time temperature of 90 degrees. The remainder of the DHS cross country squad not taking the PSAT test on Saturday had the opportunity to run on the Sac-Joaquin section championship course at Willow Hills in Folsom. Katey Randall and Palina Chordas were fifth and sixth for junior varsity girls. Freshman Emily Dimond stepped up to take 33rd for varsity girls. Ashley Martin (19th), Marissa Shaw (21st), and Naomi McPhee (22nd) led the frosh/soph girls. Adam Boone was the top boy with a 23rd place finish in the sophomore boys race.
